Who We Are
Abiye Maternal and Child Health International Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with the aim of providing up-to-date evidence-based life-saving knowledge and skill to frontline health workers in communities across Nigeria.
Our mission is to help contribute to health system strengthening and quality improvement for maternal and new born care.
AMCH was registered under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 2013. Her Founder, Dr. E. A. Disu demonstrated
passion for reaching out to vulnerable children since her high school days and the desire to get involved in voluntary work with the aim of caring for both mother and child. Abiye which literally means safe delivery was the preferred name as it clearly defines the main purpose of the foundation.
OUR MISSION
To help contribute to health system strengthening and quality improvement of maternal and new born care in Nigeria.OUR VISION
To end preventable maternal and new-born deaths by ensuring that every delivery is attended by a skilled healthcare worker and to provide prompt quality healthcare for the less privileged and vulnerableNRT Training
NRT training was subsequently conducted 6-monthly at LASUTH and was well subscribed. It was adopted by the Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) and made its pre-conference workshop in 2008. Dr Disu has since co-ordinated these trainings for PAN till date. As at 2015, a total of 1,679 doctors and nurses had been trained directly and more than 25000 step-down trainings have been reported. Today, NRT has been propagated throughout the country following its adoption by PAN. The need to make it have grass roots reach, strengthened her desire to have a foundation focused on strengthening the knowledge of care givers on maternal and child health issues. AMCH had its maiden training in LASUTH in March 2016. Prior to this, the following activities had been undertaken by the Foundation:Some of our Achievements
